October: Judging Ourselves and Others
The definition of judging is
- to form an opinion or conclusion about
- to decide or give a verdict
This can be such a sly temptation – to judge others or to judge ourselves – and Jesus’ words can sting a bit when He says in Matthew 7:1-3:
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s (or sister’s) eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”
And sometimes, the person we are hardest on is ourselves.
Nov: Effective Christian Leadership
We are ALL leaders, whether we have staff reporting to us or not.
The definition of a leader is one who coaches, guides, and inspires others. They motivate through challenging times and foster a collaborative culture and lead by example.
Here’s what the Bible says about effective leadership:
In Matthew 20:25-28, Jesus tells His disciples that leaders should not exercise authority over people. Instead, whoever wants to become great must lower himself to be a servant. Leaders realize that serving others is the only way to lead with a pure heart, free of pride and arrogance.
May we all lead our lives with a servant’s heart so that others may be inspired to seek Him!
